CES Group was engaged by Ryerson University as the LEED Commissioning and Measurement and Verification Authority. The commissioning scope of work included mechanical, plumbing, BMS, electrical and communication systems for this facility.

Our services spanned over entire project cycle (pre-design phase, design phase, construction phase, acceptance and project turn over phase, and post substantial performance monitoring phase).

Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing at the Ryerson University campus, is true mixed-use building, bringing together four Schools from the Faculty of Community Services, and providing residence services for up to 332 students. With approximately 18,200m2of space serving the academic programs and another 12,700m2 of residential space, this building is now one of the largest at Ryerson university campus.

The commissioning process included the following services:

Definition of Owner’s Project Requirements;
Commissioning aspects design reviews;
Development of Commissioning Specifications, Test Sheets and Commissioning Plan during project design phase;
Commissioning process management during construction phase, including chairing of regular commissioning meeting during project construction phase;
Coordinate the commissioning work with the general contractor to ensure that commissioning activities are being incorporated into master construction schedule;
Update and distribute construction checklist for commissioned equipment;
Coordinate, witness and document manual functional performance tests performed by installing contractor;
Coordinate retesting as necessary until satisfactory performance is achieved;
Maintain a master issues log and a separate record of functional testing;
Review preparation of the O&M manuals for commissioned equipment;
Oversee and review the training of Owner’s personnel;
Compile a commissioning report;
Coordinate and perform deferred and seasonal testing.
